To complete this guide you will need the following:

  • Authorisation from senior leaders to use the secure remote desktop

  • A phone with either:

    • A private phone number with the ability to receive calls or texts

    • The capability to install the Microsoft Authenticator app

  • Your school username and password

Please get in touch with us at [email protected] if you do not have these. Please note - USB security keys will be supported in a future update.

  1. Click the Microsoft 'Security info' link.

  2. You may be asked to sign in with your school account (if not, please proceed to the next step) - this will be of the format [email protected]. Your password will be your usual school one:

  3. Choose to 'Add sign-in method', confirm whether you'd prefer to use the authenticator app or phone then click 'Add':

  4. Follow the steps to complete enrolment in multifactor authentication. Upon completion you should see that your chosen authentication method has been added:

  6. If you have successfully logged in, congratulations - you have completed enrolment into MFA. You will either see a link for 'Remote Desktop' (in this case, proceed to the next step) or a message stating that 'there are currently no resources assigned to you'. If it's the latter, you have either:

    • Not got permission to access this resource - please contact [email protected].

  7. Clicking the ‘Remote Desktop’ link will attempt to connect you to a secure remote desktop session in your web browser. The ‘Access Local Resources’ prompt will request your permission to copy/paste and print from the remote session:
