1. Navigate to https://aka.ms/setupmfa.

  2. You may be asked to sign in with your school account (if not, please proceed to the next step) - this will be of the format [email protected]. Your password will be your usual trust/school one:


  3. You should be prompted to verify your identity - do so to proceed to the next step. If you are prompted for 'more information', please follow the prompts to add your phone to your Microsoft account as a verification method.

  4. You will now be on the 'Security info' page where you can choose to add a sign-in method. Opt to add a security key:


  5. Choose 'USB device', read the instructions and then click 'Next':


  6. You will then be prompted to insert your USB key (this may look different if you are on ChromeOS or MacOS). Proceed through the enrolment process reading each step carefully. If you have used the USB key for other services before, you may already have set a passcode for it - you will be prompted for this and then asked to touch your key - otherwise, you will be asked to set one up:


  7. Provide a name for your USB key to identify on the 'Security info' page - you will see it added to the list of sign-in methods:


Congratulations, you have now completed setting up your USB key for use with your Microsoft account!
